Changes in the email service for EK Application

EK application is using mail service to send notifications to users in cases like:

- private messages;

- project updates;

- document sharing;

- sales updates;

- tasks and alerts

Gmail service has announced that (Starting February 15, 2021) the authentication method for connecting to their service will enforce the OAuth protocol.

G Suite accounts will only allow access to apps using OAuth. Password-based access will no longer be supported.

What does it mean ?

EK application use external SMTP email services to relay email messages to email server and send mail.

The connection to such services is managed by a specific module to input identification (user + password)

Those connection settings should be changed to compatible service if Gmail service is in use.

What should you do ?

1) if you use our Saas service with our email server as settings (i.e. receive notifications from no-reply@arrea-systems.com), you have nothing to do; we already switched to another secure email service.

2) if you use our Saas service but have used your own email domain and server to send notifications, then you have to update the settings above or provide us with the new email service credentials and we can help to do the settings for you.
